[RSM Weekly Update #7]: Schools' savings with the Rise Communicator

By Anna Toma, Rise SA Team

Last week we looked at the Discipline Module that Schools can make use of from desktop and mobile. The big plus is that Schools can create Incidents and a Detention letter from desktop - and parents will see it on the Communicator.

We got feedback from the Bursars that continued working in the RSM system during the lockdown that they are quite happy about it as they won't have a backlog when the Schools open again.

During the last two weeks some Schools have been quite active with training on:

1) How to create a deposit document for cash receipts
2) How to create a payment document for refunds
3) How to split correctly debit order transactions in the Bank Stream
4) How to generate a supplier invoice & create a line item for uniforms
5) How to upload a bank statement into the system

George Bernard Shaw, a famous playwright, once said, "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place". With the Rise School Communicator, you can rest assured that parents have received your communication.

Parow High School has recently joined the Rise School Communicator. They were previously on the SMS bundle, but it was too pricey and had a limit on characters. So they chose the Rise School Communicator to communicate with parents. During the training last week, their staff created a News post, Channels (grades), an event in a calendar and more. They are excited as now they are not limited by characters and can create engaging & targeted communication with parents at all times. They have already emailed all their parents to ask to download the Communicator as soon as possible. Just after a week and a half, over 600 parents are onboard! This is great.

With the Communicator, your School Staff will be able to post at a click:

  • Timetables for various classes/grades
  • Exam schedules
  • Any important updates re changes at your School
  • Principals' Letters - attach PDF(-s) to your post
  • Event updates - create Events in the Calendar
  • Resources - post external links or PDFs
  • Info on school fees, etc.

Does your School make use of the Rise School Communicator that is part of Rise School Management that your School is currently using? Has your School emailed all your parents to request them to download the app? If the answer is no, your school could save at least R12K on paper per annum. Other providers charge min R6K per annum for the basic Communicator. That is a total of R18K per annum!

In case of RSM, Rise Communicator is included in the system & has Discipline, live Billing & Absenteeism.

If you would like to see how easy it is to use Rise School Communicator, please feel free to download it by going to the Google Play Store or App Store.
