Key bottlenecksBefore transitioning to a new 1C:ERP WE system, SODRUGESTVO Group relied on 1C:Manufacturing Enterprise Management for its accounting purposes. While 1C:Manufacturing Enterprise Management provided essential functionality for accounting and operational management, the company faced the lack of scalability. As the business expanded internationally, the system struggled to accommodate the growing complexity of multi-company, multi-currency, and multi-jurisdictional operations. What's more, the system lacked native support for IFRS, which is essential for global financial transparency and reporting.
Finally, SODRUGESTVO Group decided to migrate to 1C:ERP WE, a modern enterprise resource planning system designed to support management accounting, IFRS compliance, and many other things. The new system was chosen for its flexibility, scalability, and ability to handle complex multi-company structures while ensuring compliance with both Russian and international accounting standards.
Project implementationThe migration to 1C:ERP WE was a large-scale project involving multiple companies within the SODRUGESTVO Group. The Rise SA team had to migrate opening balances, transaction histories, and master data from 1C:Manufacturing Enterprise Management to 1C:ERP WE. A project team with dedicated analysts responsible for specific accounting sections (e.g., bank, cash, differed period expenses, advance holders) was assembled to handle it. Lots of customizations were made. In total, there were over 3,000 tasks registered to tailor the system to SODRUGESTVO Group needs. The most significant improvements included:
- Integrations. 1C:ERP WE was integrated with four key systems:
- 1C:Perform — a centralized master data management system for all entities within the group, including treasury operations and budgeting.
- 1C:HRM — for retrieving data on employee salaries.
- Procurement system — used by procurement officers to track material accounting.
- Operational accounting system — a custom solution for agricultural centers, tracking grain moisture, movements, quality parameters, and other industry-specific things.
2. Restoration of Russian-specific features. 1C:ERP WE lacked Russian-specific documents and functions (such as invoices and VAT compliance). These features were reintroduced and integrated with existing documents and functionality.
3. Error reporting. A dedicated error reporting exchange was established with the 1C company (the publisher of 1C:ERP WE). When an error is detected, it can be reported directly to the developers, who register and resolve it.
4. Document editing workflow. A request-based system was implemented for editing documents in closed periods. If a period is closed, direct edits are restricted, but users can submit a request for changes. The responsible employee then approves or rejects the request.
As for now, SODRUGESTVO Group continues to refine the system, with a current focus on optimizing the ticket management process (e.g., reservations and bookings) to the company needs.
