[RSM Weekly Update#8]: how to be Covid19-proof with the help of RSC

Last week we looked at how much Schools can possibly save with the Communicator.

Now that all Schools are getting themselves Covid19-proof and ready for opening, why should communication with parents matter to Schools?

Drastic times call for drastic measures.

Does it matter if parents receive updates from a School now during this challenging time? Would it be helpful for your School to get parents' current and working emails? Would it be helpful for your School to get health questionnaires filled in by parents?

In light of the challenging times we live in, some of our schools have created News/Resources with a link to the Health Questionnaires for parents to fill in before learners are back to school.

This Questionnaire could be filled in once-off or on a weekly or even daily basis, which is totally up to your School, to use as a precaution to avoid possible spread of the Covid19-virus.

The aim of such a questionnaire is to find out if there are any children at high risk and whether a child does not have a fever / cough and other possible symptoms that could be related to the Covid19 virus. It can be short & sweet, so parents could fill it in quickly directly from their smartphones.

Can Rise Communicator help with the above?

Yes. If you decide to set up such a Questionnaire, your School would need to:

1) Set up a Google/Microsoft Form with questions you plan to ask your parents. Get a shareable link.
2) Create a New post re the Questionnaire in RSC.
3) Create a Resource post with a shareable link to the Questionnaire
4) Parents can now fill it in from their smartphones or do it from Desktops.
5) Your School will be able to download the spreadsheet with all the answers from the Forms.

Some considerations that Schools could possibly think about during these uncertain times:

1. Many schools do not have most parents' current emails.
2. When they download the Communicator, parents must provide their cell phone & current email address to receive the OTP as part of the verification purposes.
3. In light of the above, your School will kill two birds with one stone:
3.1 Parents will download the app & you can now communicate to them;
3.2 You will get their most current emails & cell phones on hand in RSM.

Some Schools have been posting homework via RSC for specific channels to encourage learning from home while schools have been closed. Is this maybe something that your School would benefit from? Would this encourage more parents to settle school fees?

Some more topics to consider posting on the RSC:

1. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, what does it mean to be a responsible person in terms of taking precautions (wearing a mask, using sanitizer, social distancing) as much as possible?
2. What does the above mean in terms of taking public transport, walking in crowded spaces?
3. How can parents instill in children that these precautions are paramount to their wellbeing & other people's lives?
4. Can children make a visual poster on such protective measures, so that it is not just abstract concepts any longer, but something they can embrace visually in an interactive way?
5. What if they decide not to take such precautions, what would it result in for them and other people who they will come in contact with?
